Gap Fund Policy
The MHEC GAP FUND supports member organizations and individuals with funds to fill in the gaps of care for essentials such as housing, food, perinatal care, childcare, continued education, therapy, emergency and/or natural disaster relief. This initiative allows The Maternal Health Equity Collaborative to meet collective care needs that align with our pillars of Birth Worker Sustainability, Power Building and Organizing, Holistic Care, and Thriving Communities.
Who can apply for the MHEC Gap Fund?
An MHEC Member Organization
An individual MHEC Member
A birthworker, childcare specialist or person associated with an MHEC Member Organization whose needs align with our mission, vision and values
What amount can be requested?
Applicants may request any amount up to $3,000 per calendar year (January 1st-December 31st). Applicants may apply as many times as needed per year up to the amount of $3,000. Amounts will be awarded based on availability, and alignment with pillars. In instances where MHEC is not able to meet the full need or when physical items are requested, we will refer to our storage unit inventory and make the request known in our network to provide additional support and referrals.
Cap: $3,000/ calendar year (January 1st-December 31st)
There is an internal quarterly cap on funds so that they last through the year.
